It was lit from a glorious golden lamp stand, which stood directly opposite the table on the south side in the Holy Place. Made from one piece of solid beaten gold it weighed about 43 kg. (over 100 lbs.). In Hebrew it is known as the ‘menorah’ and has developed into one of the most commonly used symbols of Judaism
