Going On To Perfection: Lesson Five

Holy Spirit immersion (baptism) is the New Covenant circumcision of the heart.

Hebrews 10:15-17 :Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

Romans 2:28-29 :For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:  But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

The 21st century churches of America are divided on the topic of “Baptism of the Holy Ghost”. Some Christians believe this gift is received at the confession of faith in CHRIST. There are others that maintain when you receive the Holy Spirit immersion it is accompanied by an external sign of speaking in tongues.

Usually which side of this division line one stands is easily understood and recognized. Those that have received the “Speaking in Tongues” believe one thing, and those that have not spoken in tongues believe another. However there is a third group which enters into this topic of the “Baptism of the Holy Ghost”. This third group is the multitude of believers still undecided, and still wondering if this experience is still happening. Is this phenomena of GOD, is it just emotionalism, or maybe a spirit of deception. As always we hope to present scriptural teaching on this subject. As balanced as we hope to be, we at Huffman Church do have a side of the line we have found ourselves standing on concerning the New Covenant circumcision.
